Flat Tyre & Roadside Wheel Change Across the UK

Puncture with no spare, no jack, or a wheel nut that will not move — we carry the kit for all three.

Operator changing a wheel at the roadside

What it is

Plenty of modern cars ship without a spare wheel, and a locking nut with a missing key stops a roadside change dead. We fit your spare or space-saver where you have one, and recover you to a tyre fitter where you do not. On a hard shoulder we will always recover rather than change a wheel on the offside — it is not worth the risk.

What you get

  • Spare and space-saver fitting
  • Seized and locking wheel nut removal
  • Recovery to a tyre fitter if there is no spare
  • No offside wheel changes on live carriageways

When you need it

Four situationsthis covers

If one of these sounds like your afternoon, this is the right page. If none of them do, ring anyway — we will work it out with you.

  1. There is no spare in the boot

Increasingly common on newer cars — a can of sealant and a compressor instead of a wheel. Sealant does not fix a sidewall tear or a blowout, so that becomes a recovery to a tyre fitter.

  2. The locking wheel nut key is missing

This stops a roadside change dead, whatever tools you have. We carry the kit to get stubborn and locking nuts off.

  3. The nuts will not move

Overtightened by an air gun at the last tyre change, or seized on with corrosion. A roadside brace and your body weight will not shift those.

  4. You have a spare but no confidence

Perfectly reasonable. Changing a wheel at the roadside with traffic passing is not a job to learn on the day.

Questions about this job

Can you change a wheel on the motorway?

On the nearside, on a proper hard shoulder, sometimes — but we will assess it on arrival and we will often recover you instead. We will not change an offside wheel on a live carriageway. Standing in traffic to save a tow is not a trade worth making.

I have a space-saver. How far can I drive on it?

Check the sticker on the wheel itself, but as a rule 50 mph and a limited distance — enough to reach a tyre fitter, not enough for a motorway run home. They also affect braking and stability, so drive accordingly.

Can you repair the puncture there and then?

No, and neither should anyone else. A proper repair means the tyre off the rim, inspected inside, and plugged and patched from within. Anything done from the outside at the roadside is temporary at best.

Do you supply tyres?

We recover you to a fitter rather than carrying stock. That way you get the right tyre for the car at a fitter's price, instead of whatever happened to be on the truck.
